MSC Curriculum
June 11th - June 29th 2012
Intensive German language lessons at individually appropriate levels plus participation in carefully selected lectures and seminars in the regular LMU summer semester.
July 2nd - July 20th 2012
Intensive study program in media studies, business and communication sciences specially designed for participants of the MSC. The intensive study program covers the following:
- Electronic Mass Media, History, and Analysis: Technological analysis of mass media convergence, assessing change, challenges and opportunities faced by electronic media industries, their regulatory agencies and the public.
- New Media Online: Introduction to technologies used in the creation of online experiences exploring individual creative potential while developing a real world digital skill set. Students will use Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop in this class.
- Media Management: Insight into the principles of media management and technological driven innovations in the media industry, characteristics of the telecommunication's industry, regulatory issues and the major challenges.
- Media Informatics: Introduction to mobile and distributed systems for ubiquitous media access.
- Media Theory/Communications: Insight into the process of mass-mediated public communication.
July 23rd - August 17th 2012
Internship with a German TV station or media company.
In addition to the actual academic program, several carefully chosen, extra-curricular activities have been integrated into the academic schedule. They are designed to take advantage of Munich's cultural importance, the city's geographic location, and Germany's recent past and present history.
